I think my summer days have just got brighter with this fried corn! This sweet and savory side is heaven in the mouth. You might think that I’m exaggerating some, well try it and you tell me! I don’t think any summer gathering should go without it.
You’ve probably heard of the benefits that corn has to offer–the antioxidants, the fiber…well, today we’re going to be scratching all of that for this indulging side dish.
Fried Corn Made Easy!
This recipe is so simple yet so good. It’s 4 ingredients!
So, you’re probably thinking, can she count? I see 5 ingredients, but she said 4. Okay okay…I had all intentions of mixing some of that Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning in my fish fry but completely forgot I wanted to do that. So this recipe and these finished pictures did not have any of the seasonings. Its good with or without it. I didn’t miss it this time around. If you have some and want to use it, do it! If you don’t, don’t feel the need to go out and buy some just for this recipe.
So these are all the ingredients less the vegetable oil. You can use corn in a package or buy corn in its husk. Whatever is most convenient for you is what you should go with. For this recipe, you’ll want to grab your favorite ranch sauce. I used Walmart’s brand, Great Value. I used this because my fiancé had just purchased it and it was ready and available. That simple. For the fish fry, if you decide not to buy the cajun flavor, then you do want to add the Creole Seasoning or some cajun seasoning to your fish fry. The cajun is nothing short of amazing, so try not to forget it!
Recipe Steps
For this recipe, you’re going to start with your corn. You can use however many pieces of corn that you want, you can even cut them in half. You want to start with your buttermilk and fish fry in separate bowls. If you want to add seasoning, do it at this step.
Going one at a time (if you have a big fryer, you can do it all at once) Take your corn and place into the buttermilk. You want to make it is covered well because this is how the fish fry will stick to the corn.
Coat your buttermilk corn with the fish fry and then use tongs and place it in the deep fryer for about 3-5 minutes making sure all sides all browned evenly. A deep fryer would be best for this recipe and a great budget friendly deep fryer would be this one. If you don’t have a deep fryer, no worries, use a deep pot instead.
Your corn should look similar to this, be sure to drain corn on a paper towel or a rack. Let cool. From here, you can eat corn just as it is or you can add some ranch sauce. I highly recommend the ranch sauce! If you’re feeling fancy, sprinkle with dried or fresh parsley flakes.
